Beach Time and Swim Lessons

This past weekend the one and only Aunt Mimi came for a visit.  As usual it was a treat for all three of us to have one of our very favorites with us for the weekend.  We had a lovely Shabbat dinner and Hersh launched his rockets that he received from his last day of summer camp.  We made a trip to the farmer's market and Aunt Mimi bought Hersh a beta fish, whom he named Cooper.  Unfortunately, Cooper only lasted 2 days and we are now fishless once again.  On Sunday we went to Sandy Point State Park and enjoyed an overcast morning at the beach.  We all cant wait for Aunt Mimi's next visit.

This week Hersh and I have been enjoying what is the last period of time that is truly just "Hershel/Imma" time before the baby arrives.  It is so bittersweet, as of course we are excited for the baby, but I am truly going to miss the closeness and partnership that he and I have.  He started swim lessons this week and we have been enjoying local adventures.  I feel grateful that the weather has been manageable and cannot believe that within the next 2-3 weeks we will get to meet our next child!

One month to go...

One month from today my official EDD for Baby Lewis #2.  I know that in some ways this month will fly by, and in other ways it'll feel like forever.  It will fly by in that each day with just HBB are so precious, I am truly treasuring our time together, and there still feels like there is a lot to do.  At the same time it is sooooo hot and I am feeling pretty big and uncomfortable.  These two factors will definitely make the time drag on.  But, I am going to focus my energy on continuing to feel good and spend as much time as possible in the A/C and in the pool.

This past weekend Jacob and I attended two nights of Phish at MMP.  It was incredibly hot, and I am incredibly pregnant, but we had an incredible time.  What can I say?  We love the Phish and every show is better than the last.  Hersh had his first sleepover at Lewes' house and they enjoyed themselves.  It is so sweet how Hersh and Lewes are best friends.  I can only hope that the same is true between our next baby and Mabel and Juniper.

In  Hershel news, he has been enjoying camp, and continues to tell us about his music teacher "George Jake" who goes to college with.  We're not sure that Hersh knows what college is, but he definitely has been incorporating the concept of college into his explanations and play.  He also has been enjoying water play at camp and yoga.  Hersh is also very interested in Somerset Maugham.  He often asks Jacob to read him the Wikipedia article about Somerset Maugham.

Love this bunch.

Hershisms

Here's a guest post from Jacob:

Today Hersh and I were at the grocery store, looking for bug spray (a necessity that we go through quite quickly).  I was having trouble finding it, so I told Hersh, "I can't find the bug spray."

"We should ask someone, Abba," he said.

"Good idea," I replied, and I started to push the cart on to the next aisle.

Suddenly, I heard Hersh say in a loud and clear voice, "Excuse me?"  I turned to my right to find someone wearing a grocery store nametag coming toward us. "Can you tell us where the bug spray is, please?" Hersh asked.

The man looked a bit surprised to hear this question from a three-year-old in a cart, but did answer: "Uhhh...Bug spray?  Aisle fifteen."

"Thank you!  We should go to aisle fifteen, Abba."  I was pretty impressed with how perceptive, assertive, and polite Hersh was.  I would have just wandered aimlessly until I found the bug spray.  Fortunately, my son knows better.

Lewis Family Vacation 2013: Big Indian

This past week was the annual Lewis Family Vacation, and as usual it was a wonderful time.  We all gathered in Big Indian, which is in the Catskill Mountains.  The surroundings were exquisite and the company could not have been any better.  We spent our days swimming in pools and lakes, boating, cooking, laughing, playing, hiking, and exploring.  We all took a turn going down the waterslide (even Emily!), and enjoyed meeting Tallulah the baby bear.  We ate pancakes at Sweet Sue's and Hersh was quick to remind us that he "NEEDS" things when upset.  This must be typical 3 year old behavior.  We are so lucky to have such a wonderful family and love being together!

Upon returning home, Hersh started camp at his school, which I am sure he will enjoy.  I am cruising into my 34th week of pregnancy and trying to stay cool.  No more summer travel for us--the next adventure to come will be Lewis Baby #2!
