Every minute there's something...

Camp Ima was a success, and this week Hersh is enjoying Lego Camp.  We are busy at every moment with the craziness of life, combined with the constant need to pack and get ready for our move.  All good things, but wow--what a pace of life!  Tonight Hersh told us he wants to start a diary so he can write down his thoughts and ideas.  AlteLu had her home visit from her teachers, Molly and Gail, and Alte has been in a very nurturing mood, loving on Hop and Gato.

23 months & 1st camping trip!

Whew--what a weekend!  We had a quick visit with the Klein's who were in from Philly, and HBB and AlteLu were very pleased to see their cousin, Isaac.  Then Jacob and Hersh went with Lowell, Lewes, and our friends Adam and Sammy, on their first camping trip.  They went to Owen's Creek in Catocin Forest.  From what I've heard, it was a smashing success.  Lots of delicious camp food (including poptarts, which I received a detailed description of from Hersh), a presentation  on arrowheads, walks in the creek, and sleeping in a really sweaty, hot tent--perfect!
Yesterday, AlteLu turned 23 months--one more month til she's 2!  I've been working with her on saying she's 2 and holding up 2 fingers, but she usually says she is 3 or 5 :)
This week we will have Camp Ima--breakfast at Whole Foods, trips to the pool, a visit with reptiles, challah baking, and hopefully a trip to the zoo.
AlteLu has been "talking on the phone" with Savta, in which she tells Savta about a meeting, and says lots of "mmmhhmmms, and right, right."  That girl is a delicious chatterbox, and will tell you that she wants to "whisersecretear?"
Hersh is busy building with Legos, bikeriding, and just generally filling up the kitchen table with "treasures."  He and I just finished a book on the history of our nations ballparks--he is especially interested in the "Golden Era."
And finally, this week we close on our new house!!!!!  Let the insanity of pacing and moving begin!

Milestone!

With AlteLu being child #2 I sometimes wonder if we aren't as aware of her milestones (in actuality I'm pretty sure we are, but I still worry!).  Anywho, last night before bath our little lady went peepee on the potty for the very first time!  She has been sitting on the potty intermittently for weeks, but last night she made it happen.  Jacob, Hersh, and I were celebratory, which she seemed confused about, although she did graciously return all high-fives.  As Bamom said, "That little girl is just nice to have around."
Hershel has been enjoying camp at Acorn Hill.  It is a wonderful Waldorf School, with the highlight being that he and Lewes are together:)  Hersh and I have been reading Pippi Longstocking and then watching strange, Canadian, Pippi Longstocking videos on YouTube--ahh summertime.

A very Lakeside July 4th

To finish up our time in Little Rock we celebrated the 4th of July at Lakeside.  There were all sorts of games and activities, and both Hersh and AlteLu had a great time.  Unfortunately, we did not have a turtle for the turtle race, but the next day we had the good luck of finding 2 turtles!

Summer in the South

What an amazing week and a half we have had here in Arkansas.  With 7316 as our home base, our Little Rock stay has been amazing.  Surrounded by the love of Sabba, Savta, and Bamombelle, and with each day filled with summer in the south, we never want to leave!
Last weekend we spent a night out at Lake Katherine with Jacob's childhood friends.  We all enjoyed swimming in the lake, but Hersh really wins the award for most enthusiastic lake swimmer.  He is fearless!  Going down the slide into the lake, jumping off the barge, and demanding that the boat pull him faster with each turn on the innertube.  We then enjoyed an evening at the ballpark--go Travelers! Hersh ran across the field and everyone enjoyed the festivities.  We got our teeth cleaned by Sabba, although AlteLu was not open to this idea.  Then Jacob and Hersh went fishing out at Lakeside with Aunt LeAnn and Uncle Russ.  A visit to the Clinton Library was made, and Jacob and I headed to Bentonville and Crystal Bridges for our first night away from the kids!  We knew they couldn't have been left in better hands.  Fantasia was watched, legos built, and Gato dressed in Aunt Mimi's orphan clothes.  We will finish the trip with a Lakeside 4th of July!  Grateful for this time and can't wait until our next time here in The Rock.
