1st day of camp!

This morning our Hershel Bershel Bear started camp here in SD.  He is in the Yellow Sunshine group and was definitely psyched to be at camp.  He had a great first day, filled with music, friends, and adventure.  Apparently he was given Jell-O after lunch, and reported that he didnt like it, "too sugary."
Yesterday evening we went to Children's Pool Beach in La Jolla and visited the seals, which Hersh thought were, "so cuuute."  AlteLu also enjoyed waving and saying "Hi" to all the people along the way.  We had  a nice picnic overlooking the ocean, and plan to revisit this spot to check out the pools that are in the rocks.  We visited Old Town SD, and had dinner there with Adam and Fife.  AlteLu and I had lunch with Jacob at a food truck, which is where Jacob likes to go for lunch.  The veggies roasted in truffle oil were delish!

SD: One week in

Today marks one week in SD for the Lewis Family.  It's been a fun and busy week.  Lots of juggling the needs of both kids, while trying to get things done with both of them in tow at all times.  We visited the cliffs about La Jolla, La Jolla Shores, and Tourmaline Beach.  All were beautiful and unique.

Yesterday, we made our first visit to the Birch Aquarium at UCSD, where we have a membership for the summer.  Upon arrival Hersh locked my keys, phone, and bag in the car.  That's right, before we even left the parking lot and visited the aquarium, we had a fairly major incident.  And I will say, I usually stay pretty mellow, but this got me angry.  I just couldn't believe that Hersh locked and shut the car door.  I kept trying to remind myself to be appreciative that Alte wasnt locked in the car.  We then visited guest services, called a locksmith, and waited for about an hour.  $50 later, the car was unlocked.  We then went inside the aquarium, which is really nicely done.  It is modestly sized, and focuses on marine life on the West Coast.  There is an outdoor area that looks over the ocean, where the aquarium has set up tide pools for touching.  This is where Hersh fell into the tide pool.  I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but he was wet from his face (the water got in his mouth), all the way down his shorts.  Needless to say, it was an eventful trip to the aquarium.  We also got a library card this week and enjoyed some delicious Mexican food.

Ahhhh...San Diego

We have arrived and are settling into our home for the summer.  San Diego is beautiful, and has such a great vibe.  I just love southern California.  The perfect weather, the incredible natural surroundings, the delicious vegetarian food, and just the flow to life.  I am so grateful we are here.

Savta flew with me and the kids from DC to SD this past Friday.  All things considered, everything went very smoothly.  Flying across the country always feels like a long trip, especially with two little ones in tow.  Savta then stayed and helped us settle in.  She and Hersh were roommates and it would be an understatement to say that  he was devastated this morning when she wasn't there when he woke up :(  AlteLu started saying Savta, except it sounds like "A-dah"  AlteLu is pulling up on things like crazy and is slowly starting to cruise.

We have already swam in Mission Bay twice, and been to the beach. Can't wait to see what else is in store!
