Holding steady...

In the post election misery that we exist in, we are inclined to do our best to stay steady and hopeful.  It is a questions that is hard to answer---how to we stay hopeful in light of the tragedy of the election and the antisemitism.  Our family unit is well, having enjoyed numerous "Family Home Days" in the midst of bnai mitzvah season, swim, playdates, nutcracker, and all the rest of the swirl of life.  We've converted the Playnook into the Booknook with Jacob and Hersh hanging lots of wallpaper.  It's unclear if it will ever get cold.  Upon meeting Scotty, the Smalls new puppy,   I asked Sender how the puppy feels...to which he said, "Scotty feels very tired.  He had a big day, going from his adoptive home to his forever home.  That's so tiring.  He needs a nap."  The other day AlteLu was telling me about a book she is reading and had to pause to sort out the difference between a peasant and a pheasant:)  We also won Milton Trivia which is a huge lifelong accomplishment!

Halloween & Sneakers

We just had a festive Halloween in which all of the kids had different plans--so bittersweet.  The kids are all happy and thriving and I feel happy about this, and also a little sad--time is fleeting!  Somehow our big boy, Hersh, lost his size 13 sneakers---an amazing accomplishment of sorts.  He also earned amazing grades in his first quarter of HS and we are proud!  AlteLu has started Nutcracker rehearsals and bat mitzvah season is underway.  Sender has finished soccer, knows how to read, and has been a helpful raker of leaves.   I told the big kids that I would pay them each $50 for leaf raking.  They said they would consider the offer, to which I responded that they must rake no matter if they accept the $50 or not:)  Oh, and today is the presidential election....fingers crossed our democracy remains in tact.
